Getting started in therapy

Before you do anything else, know that I am very happy to talk with you by phone or email. I’ll respond to any question you have about me.

If you’re ready to meet with me, the first step is to check available appointment times here. You’ll be able to make a provisional booking immediately (no credit card is needed).

At this time you may notice life feels a little better right away. Once people act to deal with whatever has been troubling them, this often happens. Making a definite appointment is a sign of your determination to change things.

The second step is when I respond to you and we confirm our meeting.

The third step is to keep the appointment. You’ll make your way to the office, fill out the usual paperwork and pay for your session. The normal fee is $150 (if that makes things difficult, let me know in advance: I can suggest low-cost therapy options at great training clinics around here, and other possibilities. If you’re entitled to reclaim part of my fee from your insurance company, I’ll mail you a standard invoice showing your mental health diagnosis (if any) and the other information insurers usually want).

After that your therapy begins, and what unfolds in that room is confidential.
